Hey all, I recently had my modem/router changed by my ISP (Charter Cable) with a "newer" one. The original service call I had was for them to change my cable box, but when the guy saw what modem I had, he decided to change that too.... Anyway, since he installed it, the internet can be slow/choppy at times. Also, when the computer is first started or comes out of hibernate, it take a good amount of time for the wireless signal to come through. I contacted Charter via online chat, and they said that the modem that was installed is not the right one for the internet package I have, which is their 30 mbps package. It's a DOCSIS 2.0 modem. They said to swap it out for a DOCSIS 3.0 one at my local Charter office. I also see that my network adapter supports 802.11n, but when I hover my mouse over my local connection, it says 802.11g...Hopefully a DOCSIS 3.0 modem will be 802.11n? I don't know much about this kind of stuff so sorry if I'm confusing lol. Was the person I chatted with correct in saying that the DOCSIS 3.0 modem should fix my issues? Thanks for any help! Also, when running a speed test from Speedtest.net, I get 20 mbps or lower wirelessly. When I connected it with an ethernet cable, I got 30 mbps which is what I should be getting ...... Read More »
